Steffan de Graffenried
My journey into eastern arts and
philosophy began in 1972 with Kung Fu the TV series. My 30 year study of Kung Fu
and Tai Chi led me to the study of exercise physiology and kinesiology and a career
in the health club industry as a fitness trainer and consultant and
eventually a health club owner. In 2002 my wife talked me into
attending her yoga class and I fell in love with it. After reading 40
Days to Personal Revolution by Baron Baptiste,
I was inspired to intensify my study and practice. Several teachers have
had a profound effect on my practice, particularly Rodney Yee and Bruce Bowditch, a longtime
student of John Friend.
Bruce Bowditch guided me into the understanding of how to apply my knowledge of body alignment and physical structure into my yoga practice and teaching. I frequently use my knowledge of Chinese healing arts to help students therapeutically with sports injuries and physical limitations.
